Katie Shamion is co-owner of The Union Knot. She is a returning Oregonian. Katie was born and raised in Eastern Oregon where she attended beauty school in the fall, following her high school graduation. Katie moved to North Idaho with her young family and lived there for aprox 8 years before returning to Oregon in 2010. She has been a practicing, licensed stylist since 2001.

Katie worked in the Seaside area for 2 years before opening her own shop in Cannon Beach in the later part of spring 2013. The shop started off as a solo endeavor (Katie’s Beach Salon) and
eventually found a business partner in Brigitte Wahlbeck in the spring of 2017. The two became partners in the existing Salon (renaming it Cannon Beach Salon) as well as an entirely new
business (The Union Knot) which caters to wedding/special event hair and makeup. Katie’s specialties include dry cutting as well as precision cutting with a razor. “I like the “art” of cutting
hair...I just have a different canvas than most traditional artists.”

When Katie is not in the shop you can find her with her family. She has two grown kids; a son in his second year of college and a daughter who is a junior in high school. Katie and her family have found a home in this small coastal community. All of them enjoy the outdoors and have adapted quite well to beach life.
