Brigitte Wahlbeck is co-owner of The Union Knot. She was born and raised in Southern California. She attended beauty school in Palm Springs at Champion Institute of Cosmetology, she graduated in 1989, and has been a practicing Cosmetologist ever since.
Brigitte practiced Cosmetology in Southern California after graduation and worked in Palm Desert on El Paseo Drive, and Palm Springs. Her focus of training began with an apprenticeship learning to perfect the ever-popular blow-out and updo with the prestigious Palm Springs elite. She later furthered her training in cutting techniques and ultimately ran her own salon business for 10 years in Palm Springs, specializing in precision cutting and foil weaving.
In 2012, Brigitte and her husband Gary moved to Oregon, where she expanded her esthetician training in eyelash extensions, makeup, and waxing and where she met Katie Shamion. Brigitte began working at Katie’s Beach Salon in Cannon Beach as a hairstylist while specializing in eyelash extensions, makeup, and waxing. In the spring of 2017, Katie and Brigitte began a partnership and renamed the beauty salon, Cannon Beach Salon.
Due to the increasing need and popularity of Cannon Beach as a destination wedding hot spot, and lack of adequate space in their current salon, the two decided to open a new venture, The Union Knot. The Union Knot will cater to weddings, special events, and specialize in hair, makeup, and keeping calm. Brigitte stated, “we want a beautiful space for special events and the preparations for weddings, engagements, and education of our skill, and of course all-around creativity.”
Brigitte enjoys spending time with her husband, children, and grandchildren and feels the Ocean has called to her. She knows living in this charming coastal community is a privilege that many only get to enjoy as visitors. She has gained the best in family, friendship, and business partners that anyone could ever ask for and wants to make every day one to be creative and enjoy and bring the best out in the people around her.
